A solid oak bench 120 cm long and only 40 cm deep, because hallways are narrow. The seat is a single thick board; underneath, a slatted shelf 18 cm off the floor takes six pairs of shoes and lets wet ones drip onto the floor rather than onto the wood.
Even so, the shelf is the part that wears. Oiled oak is not a tray: wet soles left on it for a winter leave grey marks that need a sand and a re-oil to lift. A rubber mat on the shelf solves it and we will tell you the size.
